This is a dataset that can be used to forecast Avocado prices by considering the type (organic/conventional), seasonality, and average flutation levels. Organic avocados are on average more expensive throughout the year, but also experience higher levels of price fluctuation than conventional. Fluctuations do not happen on a fixed frequency. For both types, prices peak between September and October, with a significant drop at the end of the year.

This study by the Hass Avocado Board surveyed 2,400 adult grocery shoppers from the US in 2022 about why they purchase Avocados. Some of the top value drivers for consumers buying Avocados include health benefits and preferences towards the taste and texture. 79% of respondents said they believe Avocados are healthy. Some consumers and their families also enjoy the uniqueness of the fruit (or vegetable if you want) but Avocados being their favorite fruit was the lowest response at 43%. The price is also a lower driver, most likely due to the fluctuating price and widely accepted notion that Avocados are expensive.

(4) Consumption Analysis of Avocados
This Tastewise study analyzes what consumers use Avocados for and what they use it with. The top rising consumer need for them for is as a source of protein, nearly double of the runner up response. The study suggests this is because the major diet associated with Avocados is veganism. The top ingredient complementing Avocados is toast. Social conversations about avocados have decreased by 19.38% over 2024, and 35.80% of restaurants offer avocado on their menus.
